Haitian "boat people" used this small, rickety boat in an attempt to cross to the U.S.
Their illegal entry was thwarted by the USGC Diligence out of Wilmington NC.

Reference photos for this painting were furnished by a
Coast Guardsman formerly stationed on the U.S.C.G. Diligence.
